Got Questions?

Here are a number of frequently-asked questions that we get:

How much personal time will it take?

In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the year, there are usually 4 fixed events every year. The first, around the middle of March  is the Lincoln Music Festival where we usually compete. The next one, around the end of  April is the Dress Rehearsal along with the Lace City Ladies Chorus. The 3rd is the big one - The National Competitions for both Chorus and Quartets (usually called "Convention"). This is a three day event, this year held at Harrogate, next year at Llandudno. Finally, we have started putting on our own show around November time. We also tend to perform in and around our area about 5-6 times per year for local festivals, business events, and charitable events etc.

What is the cost?

We all pay a monthly subscription of £16

What is the audition procedure?

Our Chorus Director will first of all audition you to determine where your voice range is so he can put you in the appropiate section. After a while, you will be asked to sing into a recorder (along with other singers) to check your progress and so the music team can help you.

Do I have to be a great singer?

No, but you may well end up as one. Our quartet (Special Blend) had 3 singers who had never sung our type of music before!!

How do I learn the songs?

Besides written music, we provide teach tracks and printed music of the appropiate part so you can learn in your own time.
