Our Director is Joe Knight, possiblly one of the youngest directors in the British Association, but also one of the most experienced singers.
Besides directing the Major Oak Chorus, Joe is a section leader in the Grand Central Chorus, past Chairman of the National Youth Barbershop Chorus, a BABS educator, and the baritone in the 2008 Gold Medal winning Monkey Magic quartet, who this year are representing Great Britain in Philadelphia in July to compete in the International Quartet and Collegiate Quartet Contests.
Joe comes from a barbershop family (making him what we affectionatly know as a "barbershop brat!"). Both his parents are Chorus Directors and Gold medal winners in their own right,, and his younger brother is in a quartet called Fraggle Rock.
Joe is married to Emma, a member of the incredible Ladies Chorus The Lace City Chorus . Emma is the daughter of yet another Gold Medallist, Russ Beeden.
In his none singing time, Joe works for Nottinghamshire Police, and occasionally sleeps!!
Joe makes rehearsals tremendous fun, and is possibly the bounciest Chorus Director we have ever encountered.
